Island Metals is seeking a highly motivated, field-based sales professional to grow metal roofing sales on Oʻahu. This is not an inside sales role. Success in this position comes from visiting job sites, meeting contractors face-to-face, building trust, and creating quoting opportunities.
Island Metals manufactures custom metal roofing on Kauaʻi and supplies contractors and homeowners across Hawaiʻi. We do not install roofing—we focus on manufacturing, estimating support, and fast fulfillment.
With pricing advantages, fast lead times (often 1–2 weeks vs. 8+ weeks from competitors), and growing inter-island demand, this role has significant income upside for the right person.
Primary Focus: Field Sales & Business Development
• Actively visit roofing contractors, builders, and job sites across Oʻahu
• Build long-term relationships with contractors and decision-makers
• Identify upcoming projects and create opportunities for Island Metals to quote
• Promote Island Metals’ pricing, speed, and service advantages
• Serve as the local, face-to-face presence for Island Metals on Oʻahu
Sales & Estimating Support
• Perform initial project intake and coordinate take-offs
• Prepare and submit estimates and bids (with Island Metals support)
• Follow up on quotes and convert opportunities into awarded jobs
Project Coordination (Light PM – Not the Core Role)
• Coordinate awarded jobs with the Kauaʻi manufacturing team
• Assist with submittals, change orders, and customer communication as needed
• Ensure a smooth handoff from sale to fulfillment
Compensation & Structure
• 100% commission-based (1099 independent contractor)
• Commission up to 5% of sales
• Unlimited income potential
• Expected earnings range: $2,000–$8,000+ per month, with strong upside as repeat contractor relationships grow
• Full schedule flexibility and autonomy
This role is ideal for someone who:
• Enjoys being out in the field, not behind a desk
• Has experience with roofing, construction, or building materials sales
• Is comfortable walking job sites and talking with contractors
• Can read and interpret construction drawings (estimating experience is a plus)
• Is self-driven and thrives in a commission-only environment
This role is not a fit for someone who prefers phone-only or inside sales.
Required Qualifications
• Roofing or construction estimating experience preferred
• Ability to read plans and quantify materials
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Reliable transportation to travel across Oʻahu
