Just in time for Christmas, this is a handwired build of a 5F1 Fender Champ with 8" Weber speaker. Why buy a reissue made with cheap parts and poorly wired with machine drip solder? Buy this handwired Tweed champ with the coveted 5F1 circuit. With one knob, this amp can be cranked to achieve that wonderful midrange bliss.
It is outfitted with some hand-selected tubes, which include a vintage JAN spec Philips 5Y3WGTA, a EHX 6v6, Fender 12AX7 and an extra vintage Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7 to swap around. This amp breaks up with that famous throaty growl of the golden era of Fender Tweed amps. The Amperex Bugle Boy gives this amp an extra mid boost that makes this amp really open up. This amp has just been recently serviced and is ready for the studio. This amp keeps up with my 1957 Champ, but offers a different sonic footprint because of the 8 inch Ted Weber speaker. It is becoming more and more difficult to find this specific speaker. Its bass and mid response are surprising for such a compact speaker. Unlike the reissue Fender tweed champs, this one is completely handwired and won't have the infamous problems of those drip-soldered reissues. This is a great deal on a handwired rebuild that won't break the bank, and will allow you to get the tone you desire without risking your vintage champ on the stage. Along with the previously mentioned extra vintage Amperex Bugle Boy tube, I will also include a cover.
