Tom Bihn Western Flyer Carry-on Bag
This is a very sturdy, 1600 cubic inch/26 Liter (dimensions: 18" x 12" x 7") bag optimized for air travel, and can be used as a briefcase/work bag at your destination. It is great as a carry-on bag, and can fit either under your seat or in even the smallest overhead compartments. Its exterior is a black 1050 denier ballistic nylon; its interior is a red 200 denier ripstop fabric called Dyneema.
The bag has great organization. In the front it has two pockets one above the other; both extend down to the bottom of the bag. They lie flat, and are best used for cables or an ereader. There is a half-moon pocket to the right of the other two pockets, and you can either store a boarding pass in there, or the pocket extends out to hold a water bottle.
There are two compartments that run the entire width and height of the bag. The one closest to the front has a divider down the middle that can be unzipped to create one large compartment instead of two. When divided, I have put shoes in one half, and toiletries in the other half.
The compartment in the back of the bag mirrors the one closer to the front, except there is no option to divide it into separate compartments. You can place two packing cubes inside, though, to achieve the same effect.
You can carry this bag in almost every way imaginable: there is a handle on top for carrying like a briefcase; there are also grab handles on either end to make it easy to pull out of an overhead compartment. You can connect a strap to connections on either end of the bag if you want to carry it over one shoulder. It also has hide-away backpack straps that make it convertible to a backpack. Personal experience: I was able to fly with only this bag on a two-day trip. I hauled a suit, dress shoes, etc, as well as two changes of clothes with no issues. It was actually very relaxing to not worry about checking a bag, or finding space in overhead compartments because the bag fits almost anywhere.
Sells new for $240. I bought this bag new, and I have flown with it as a carry-on twice; never checked. I have not used it in several years, and it is in almost pristine condition. I am asking $200.
