Fairgoers can visit the Department of Agriculture’s “Buy Local, It Matters” Education Pavilion for amazing exhibits and shopping from local vendors. There will be some of the freshest locally grown produce and most diverse plants at the Kamehameha Schools’ Country Market and Plant Sale. And people will enjoy amazing local food, including the ever-popular, grass-fed beef burgers from Kualoa Ranch.
Keiki will be able to see and enjoy live animals up close, including steer, goats, chickens, pigs and more in the 4-H Livestock Tent. There will also be festive music, entertainment acts, demonstrations and fun-filled, on-stage contests like watermelon eating, corn husking and chili pepper eating. There will also be pony rides, bouncers and hands on opportunities for kids to enjoy Farm-filled fun at the Keiki Hands on the Farm activity.
The Keiki Hands on the Farm exhibit gives young children a chance to experience what a day on the farm is like, along with milking a life-sized cow (replica), a chick hatchery with live chicks and more. Look for the latest Farm Fair news at www.hawaiistatefarmfair.org.
