The Coordinator advances the school’s Career-Based Learning (CBL) program by cultivating meaningful partnerships with community organizations and businesses. This position reports to the Director of Academics and works closely with the Waipahu Campus Directors, as well as CBL staff and student support teams.
Examples of duties, (include, but are not limited to):
Research, seek out, and nurture school-community partnerships on the island of Oahu
Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and new external civic and business constituencies
Iterate on our current program for connecting students with community partners for the purpose of community service and/or internships
Coordinate and monitor internal and external student internship opportunities for the Waipahu student body. This includes selecting partnerships, establishing mentoring relationships, documenting learning using UNRULR, and verifying course requirements (hours, presentation of learning)
Maintain records of student progress in UNRULR, Canvas, and Honuhub learning management systems
Cultivate student relationships to increase the effectiveness of CBL counseling
Collaborate with CBL staff, campus counselors, and directors on CBL placements and tasks
Attend various CBL placement and internship meetings to monitor engagement and program quality
Share CBL opportunities and celebrations with the school faculty at campus meetings and statewide faculty days
Plan and execute bi-annual showcases/presentations of learning for the Waipahu CBL students
Work with school administration to evaluate and improve the CBL program in the following areas: CBL integration of Hawaiian culture and ʻāina-based learning, quality of internship placement, how student voice is incorporated in partnership development, and how impact is measured beyond hours completed
Iterate/develop career workshops to assist students in career-building skills, such as resume writing, interview preparation, effective networking, professional communication, and workplace readiness skills.
Collaborate with student services and counseling teams when CBL intersects with IEP, 504, or student support plans.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Education.
Experience working in a K-12 academic setting
Experience developing relationships with external and internal stakeholders and Cultivating community partnerships
Ability to envision and manage a work cycle from idea to completion and reflection
Preference for working in a highly collaborative environment with both students and faculty
Experience with event planning and coordination
Ability to work independently and seek support as needed
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the HTA PCS. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.

Paid Vacation &Sick Leave and State/Federal Holidays: 12-month employees receive 14 days of vacation and 21 days of vacation upfront during the school year provided that all conditions under the respective collective bargaining agreement are met.

403B - Retirement Plan: If eligible, Department employees are able to participate in a tax shelter annuity program. The TSA plan allows eligible employees to contribute pre-tax dollars to an employee-selected investment service provider authorized to provide TSA products.
Temporary Disability Insurance: Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non-work related injury or illness under this program.
Social Security: As an employer, the State also contributes to an employee's social security account.
Workers' Compensation: If an employee is injured while on the job, benefits covering medical expenses and partial wage support may be available through workers' compensation.
