Field Interviewers Needed for Oahu TheBus & Honolulu Skyline Survey Project
Job description
ANIK, a transportation research staffing firm, is seeking Field Interviewers (Non Bilingual & Spanish Bilingual needed) for our Transit Rider Survey for the Honolulu Department of Transportation Services (DTS) TheBus/SkyLine. This is a 3 month project August 11th- November 10th. As a Field Interviewer, you will ask bus/rail passengers to participate in a survey via tablet. The data collected will help with the improvement of TheBus/SkyLine Transit. Surveys are conducted interview style meaning you ask the questions and input the answers into the tablet.
Report Location
Report locations will be at various transit centers/SkyLine stations including but not limited to the Kahauiki_sation - which should have parking available, ALapa’i Transit Center (no available parking), and other various transit stations. The majority of report locations, staff will have to utilize transit to get to their location due to no parking at some locations.
Responsibilities
Arriving at their pre-scheduled location on time.
Engage with riders to request their participation in a 5 minute survey.
Conduct one on one interviews, passengers will not use the tablet.
Meet quota of 5 surveys per hour.
Return to the starting location to return the tablet, receive supervisor feedback, and receive a report time and location for the following day.
Qualifications
Tech savvy
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Punctual. A missed bus is a missed shift.
Outgoing and natural communicator.
Excited about community improvement and innovation.
Ability to stand on moving transportation for extended periods.
Proficient in Apple iPad and Google maps.
At least 18 years of age
Schedule and Pay Details
Workdays: Monday- Thursday
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour (pay increases available for super performance)
Pay Frequency: Weekly (every Friday)
Job Type: W2 employee
Start Date: Tuesday, August 11th, 2026 (Mandatory 4 hour training on August 11th)
Length of project: 3 months approx.
Dress Code
Comfortable shoes preferably with rubber soles for safety (high heels not allowed)
No T-shirts with graphic designs
Pants with no tears or sagging
No facial tattoos or facial piercings
Available Shifts:
AM: 5am-2pm
PM: 2pm-10:30pm (all staff must be available to work until 10:30pm if needed)
NOTE: Start/end times & locations vary slightly depending on bus or rail route
