Filmmaker Wanted – Document Artist Journey from Hawai‘i to Damanhur, Italy
An international community of artists is seeking a filmmaker to document a unique creative journey from Hawai‘i to Damanhur, Italy.
This project includes filming a 2-week camping experience where artists will be creating and showcasing work in a forest near the spiritual art community of Damanhur.
The purpose of this documentary is to bring awareness to the need for younger generations within communities across Italy—particularly in Damanhur, where a population of approximately 600 is at risk of decline without new growth and participation.
Your work will be featured in a documentary shared with a global audience, highlighting this first-ever forest art exhibition and the artists involved.
What to Expect:
• Filming artists throughout travel and creative process
• 2 weeks of camping and outdoor living
• Travel between locations via trains, cars, and local transport
• Sleeping arrangements may include tents, vehicles, Airbnbs, and host homes
• Minimal baggage and resourceful, flexible travel style
This is a rugged, adventure-based project. If you are not comfortable with long hikes, train travel, or days without typical comforts, this may not be the right fit.
We strongly recommend trying a few days of independent camping beforehand to ensure you’re prepared.
Timeline:
• Filming begins immediately (this month)
• Continues through July in Italy
• Ends with a forest exhibition featuring final artworks
If you’re passionate about storytelling, community, and art—and you’re ready for an unforgettable experience—we’d love to hear from you.
