Bought this boat three years ago.
This is not the hybrid sailing/powerboat Macgregor. This is a sailing boat with a centerboard and water ballast. Hull speed is a little over 7 knots though ive never sailed it.
Spent two years doing keel up (well... daggerboard up) rebuild. Boat Pox fixed - mulitlayered epoxy. The boat has been completely rebuilt, rewired, and redone with the sole exception of the household wire nuts used to connect the bow lamp just so i can show people the kind of stupid i had to put up with in the rebuild... and yes 5160 was in there. Previous owners were either evil or ignorant, apparently.
Standing rigging is new, sails are used but in great condition (which is why i didnt replace them)
all lines run to cockpit including double reef though the sail only supports a single reef, all winches replaced, brand new 9.9 lehr engine (you can laugh but i like them because i dont like the smell of gasoline) has only 30 minutes on engine because we had to heat the oil to change it. electric start with dedicated battery.
7" simrad crt with nmea support and full maps for hawaii loaded along with 2020 satellite image overlay INCLUDING Kaukonahua in Wahiawa in case you want to hit the lake. illegal by the way.
EVERYTHING works and is in brand new condition. a lot of things are still wrapped in their packaging. Magma propane grill (never used or opened) DSC linked VHF with new ant at 38' in case you want to call someone in Japan for whatever reason, new custom laminated tiller, new offshore auto inflating vests (never used or worn, still on hangars). New Blue Sea Systems panels, power management systems, etc. Interior night/day LED lighting.
Every single scratch and ding in the hull was repaired. the original macgregor windows were replaced with new Lexan windows which are literally bulletproof. there is a new porta potty which was never removed from the box. The entire interior was acid cleaned which requires specialized gear and skills. It has solar (I dont know the specs) its the big flexible panel from westmarine.
The trailer has a brand new axle, springs, supports and bearings custom imported and welded to the professionally reinforced original macgregor trailer. Bunks are new, guide bunks new, dock lines still in bag, tires only used to travel to Haleiwa Harbor from Wahiawa seven times.
All lights replaced with LED lamps, rudder and daggerboard rebuilt and painted. Hull repainted. Deck painted with color coordinated Kiwigrip... etc. etc. I built this thing for me, so absolutely no expense was spared. Its the boat i dreamed of since i graduated from high school. Yes, I know you can buy one of these on the mainland for 2k and ship to Hawaii for 6k on a barge. Go ahead, I know how to do sailboat repairs... do you?
Reality is though that a year after finishing it we've only ever managed to tow it to the harbor and for one reason or another (none having to do with the boat) we had to pack up and leave before we could untie the lines. Weather, health, protesters, homeless people, covid... you name it but the capricous elves that govern such things have decided that we will not leave the harbor.
So screw it, ive always wanted an airplane....
