WOMEN HELPING WOMEN is seeking qualified applicants to work in Wailuku as a Transitions Program Advocate.

Details of this position include:
  • Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
  • $14 per hour, paid twice monthly (15th and last day of month)
  • Based at WHW's Wailuku office

  • Reports to the Transitions Program Coordinator
  • Periodic travel required to other agency locations and for errands; infrequent off-island travel possible for seminars or conferences (mileage is reimbursed when personal vehicle is used during work time)
The Transitions Program works with survivors of domestic violence and provides temporary financial assistance with rent, utilities, childcare and more. Primary duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Providing direct services over the phone, in person and via email
  • Maintaining client files and project statistics
  • Coordinating with other WHW staff (and other community resources) as necessary
Job-specific training is provided. Requirements for this job include:
  • High School/GED (Associates Degree or greater is a plus)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence
  • Prepared to work as a first-responder with individuals in crisis
  • Ability to relate well with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies
  • Strong English language skills (verbal and written); bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
  • Must be willing to undergo criminal history background check and child welfare services background check (only required after job offer is made)
