As an agri-business company engaged in agriculture, Hartung Brothers currently has the following employment opportunity available at our Kekaha, HI location (Kauai):
Position Title: Parent Seed Seasonal Technician (Seasonal Non-Exempt)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein.
Description of Duties:
Field:
• Field based activities include but are not limited to Parent Seed planting, roguing, detasseling, temporary and permanent fencing, mature corn bird netting, harvest, and post-harvest activities.
• Harvest moistures, machine harvest and hauling.
Plant/Infrastructure:
• Plant activities include but not limited to:
o During harvest walking floor, husk and sorting, and forklift operation
o Post-harvest activities drying, shelling, fumigation, and shipping.
Other: Electronic based note taking using handhelds, smartphones, applications, and computers.
Safety and Compliance:
Work closely with the Safety and Compliance team to ensure protocols are in place, trained on and promote safe behaviors and best practices.
Essential Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
Field work physical demands:
Able to wear PPE; bending and stooping; frequent sitting, standing, and walking over rough surfaces; reaching above shoulder level for extended periods. Ability to work in humid, hot, and dusty conditions for extended periods.
Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of field, office, and shop environments.
Qualifications:

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a seasonal position with a start and assignment end date; seasonal workdays are Monday through Friday. Maybe required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Flexible work hours, especially during peak workload across the site. Able to work long hours or off schedule including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays to ensure targets are met.
Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Basic computer knowledge
3. Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. Demonstrated success in a similar agricultural role.
2. Working knowledge of PDA’s.
3. Ability to operate a vehicle on public roads.
