The memory foam mattress comes with it & the pillows as well. I actually think I have six pillows with the matching pillow covers. I just have to find the last one. I bought all of the pillows and covers from Amazon at a cost of about $150 alone for 6 pillows & covers
I feel like this is a great deal for a solid wood unit because the shipping was also a bit expensive from AllModern (without the mattress and the pillows) cost just over $625
The trundle underneath rolls out, I do not have a mattress for that portion of the bed. It rolls out completely separate from the bed so can be placed/rolled anywhere. I do not think a standard size twin mattress would fit in the trundle portion of this bed. But a nice twin sized mattress topper works great, which is what I’ve been using.
Noted that we do have 2 cats that have laid on the bed when the cover has been on, but mostly we kept door closed, so they didn’t use the bed up sleep on
