Located in the coastal jungle on the eastern tip of the Big Island near Cape Kumukahi, the place of the sun rise. There are exotic fruit trees and fragrant, colorful flowers on this fertile land. It's a place to truly unplug... to sleep soundly and dream deeply, caressed by the ocean breeze, and the sounds of the ocean waves in in the distance. There is truly an “Old Hawaii” feel at Puamana.

WE keep our prices affordable for the type of guests we love to host. Your first night is FREE! if you book for a week, only $252 for the entire week. Monthly rates also available, so that you can fully explore. You can choose to have your breakfasts catered by your hostess, or choose to do a cleanse on fresh coconut water.

Cape Kumukahi - 1 mile away as the crow flies-has some of the cleanest air in the world, and the property is cooled by the trade winds from that direction. There you will find a new beach, reached by foot or bike formed from last year's lava eruption that is private and magnificent! Pua Mana offers a beautifully rustic cabin for visitors to our special place on the island. Large screened redwood room, 16' lanai with comfortable rattan chairs, and separate kitchen equipped with a 2 burner stove, an antique farmhouse sink, and all you need for simple cooking. There is one full size bed and clean bedding, a closet, and it's basically furnished. All on an off-grid solar-powered 30 year old permaculture homestead with a huge variety of tropical fruit trees, coconuts, bananas, fragrant flowers and exotic ornamentals. Separate bathroom facilities and shower in an outdoor enchanted fairyland setting under Angel's Trumpet flowers that open their fragrance in the evening. The large solar- powered refrigerator is a short walk from the jungalow in the workshop area of the main house, or you can buy ice in town for the cooler in your kitchen.

Since many come to Pua Mana to sample our delectable tropical fruit, here is just a short list of what you may find in season when you visit. Summer is the most bountiful season. If you want to time your trip when certain favorites are in season, just ask and we will give you our best guess. We bring you fruit from the farm every morning- this is at no extra charge!

Papaya (giant strawberry), banana (many varieties- you will never eat a store-bought banana again!), coconut, avocados (7 varieties so there are always avos in season), oranges, tangelos, Meyer lemon, mamay sapote, chico sapote, cacao, vanilla (we hand pollinate the flowers in spring), jackfruit, white low-acid pineapple (summer only), surinam cherry, rollenia (like a giant cherimoya- and everyone's favorite!), marang, jaboticaba, soursop (guanabana), rambutan, cashew... to name a few:)Located in the coastal jungle close to the eastern tip of the island near the newest beach in Hawaii made by last year’s lava flow. Solar powered cabin on a 30 year old homestead filled with tropical fruit, coconuts, fragrant flowers and beauty every place you look. Take advantage of our special summer rates, or reserve for winter now before the jungalow is filled for the season.

Available for 1 or 2 people, the jungalow is a charming space that is fully equipped with all you will need for your stay. 2 minute walk from safe parking area- must have rental car and be able to carry drinking water and groceries up a short hill. Perfect for adventurous types who want to experience life as locals live!

Hwy 132 is being rebuilt and will be open again in October. This makes the drive to Pahoa only 15 minutes long, or you can drive along the coastal road for the scenic drive.
