We are an established Hawaii law firm seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our team. This position supports attorneys practicing in family law and civil litigation and is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can manage cases independently while providing high-level support in a fast-paced legal environment.
This is a full-time position and can be in-person or fully remote. For remote working, you must have your own computer, reliable high-speed internet, a printer, a second monitor, and a functional home-office setup. We currently have an office in downtown Hilo and we are opening a satellite office in Pahoa very soon. Your remote work schedule will be determined by your Supervisor.
Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and file legal documents in family court and circuit court.
* Prepare pleadings, motions, declarations, subpoenas, discovery, and correspondence
* Assist with divorce, custody, child support, guardianship, adoption matters
* Manage case files, deadlines, calendars, and court schedules
* File documents in JEFS and perform searches in eCourt Kokua
* Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
* Organize and summarize discovery, financial records, and exhibits
* Assist with trial preparation, mediation, and settlement documents
* Maintain accurate billing records and time entries
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of paralegal experience, preferably in Hawaiʻi
Strong knowledge of HFCR, HRCP, RCCH, HPR, and other applicable Court Rules
Experience with JEFS, eCourt Kokua, and electronic filing requirements
Excellent drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple matters and meet strict deadlines
Professional demeanor and strong client-service skills
High level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Clio, Adobe, and Excel, along with other software
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience handling contested family law matters desirable.
