The fleeces/wool are from friendly Clun Forest sheep that are raised for pasture maintenance and wool. Our sheep are well cared for and much loved.
Clun Forest wool is a great all purpose wool. It spins easily into soft durable yarn or use it for felting or filling in pillows, cushions, mattress toppers or even mattresses. I've heard that wool pillows don't get dust mites.
All fleeces have been lightly skirted (dirty edge/belly wool removed), but any remaining wast wool can also be used as a biodegradable mulch for your garden. Wool mulch helps maintain soil moisture, is unpopular with slugs and is a natural 100% biodegradable product.
All fleeces are in excellent condition, they are stored with lavender oil to prevent wool moths. I inspect all fleeces before sale, to be sure they are in good condition.
Sheep wool or fleeces are not sheep skins. Sheep wool is humanly sheared or clipped from the sheep once a year, so that the sheep has a nice Summer trim for the hottest parts of the year. No sheep are killed/harmed in the production of wool.
