Performs tasks associated with installation and/or maintenance of digital communication equipment. Installations may include wireless broadband routers, antennas, power supplies, and other devices on outside poles, rooftops, buildings or other structures as directed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general direction, installs and/or maintains site equipment at the customer site or at company location.
Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, electrical schematics and installation drawings.
Assembles the required tools and equipment for projects to be installed based on direction from the Project Manager.
Installs, rearranges, and removes equipment and associated wiring; verifies work-order information; and verifies receipt of all necessary equipment and information.
Locates and repairs equipment problems associated with trouble reports.
Tests, adjusts, and repairs equipment as necessary.
Documents and photographs installations completed, communicates results to Project Manager.
Qualifications:
High degree of technical expertise, usually with a specialization in wireless technology
Knowledge of microwave and other wireless systems
Electronics background
Must have general understanding of IP networks and protocols
Strong knowledge of configuring IP address, Subnet Masks and Gateways
Understanding of Layer 2 vs. Layer 3 networks helpful
Must be able to read CAD drawings and blueprints
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Must be a team player and accept instruction
Strong organizational and planning skills, and capable of managing several complex tasks at a time
Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license with a safe driving record
Must pass an extensive background check and/or drug screening tests
Must be able to lift 80-100 pounds
Must be able to use a safety harness and work on roofs and in bucket trucks at heights of up to 90
Must have well developed mechanical skills, able to use basic hand tools and basic power tools
Education and/or Experience
Some experience installing digital wireless equipment
Some 2-way radio installation experience helpful
Certifications, Licenses and Additional Requirements
Harris and/or Alcatel microwave radio certification desired
Knowledge of other wireless products (LTE, WiMAX, PTP, PTMP)
Networking certifications also desired
Travel is required
