Architect - Project Manager - We are a small, successful, boutique, primarily commercial architecture firm that recently took a long hard look in the mirror and decided among other things to reorganize the resources to support our client projects. With that reorganization we are now looking for a VERY strong and experienced person with exceptional Project Management skills to head one of our project teams. The person we are looking for MUST among other attributes have:
• EXCEPTIONAL Project Management skills to successfully:
o manage, direct, and motivate others in the firm, as well as outside consultants or other resources to accomplish project tasks on time and with a high degree of accuracy and quality;
o manage clients, internal/external resources, and project creep;
o manage multiple projects at the same time;
o manage project profitability;
Design ability does NOT have to be your forte;
In addition to the above we are looking for a person that has
• Experience managing projects with construction budgets in excess of $5MM
• A minimum of a 7+ year post graduate career experience -This is NOT an entry, intern, level position;
• An ability to be bigger than yourself and:
o accept and follow direction from firm principals and owners even if that direction is contrary to what you have lobbied for;
o conduct active and constructive post project criticism and take action to avoid shooting your team in the foot in the future;
• A HIGH level of organization and COMMUNICATION skills:
• A degree in architecture (Masters + Preferred);
• LEED AP certification and State of Hawaii Architecture desired but not necessary;
• A PROFICIENCY in AutoCAD for Architecture AND Revit 2009 – additional experience in MicroStation and BIM a plus;
• An understanding that, even with good time management skills, there will be times when it will be necessary to woek additioanl time outside normal office hours - even if that time is necessary to help bail out other project teams;
• Current Hawaii residency (preferred);
• A willingness to accept an initial lower BASE salary, and then be compensated in other creative ways based on performance and contribution to project and firm success i.e.: Project and firm success = a piece of the action;
• Long term aspirations to become a principal or more in the firm;
• A desire and ability to ACTIVELY participate in:
o business development
o improving the operational efficiency of the firm
• A strong sense of humor and a thick skin;
• An ability to play well in the sandbox with others and leave your ego parked at the door
