ABOUT HAWAII PACIFIC ROLLER DERBY:
Hawaii Pacific Roller Derby formed in February 2008 and is currently a league of almost 30 skaters, though more women are joining every week. HPRD is Oahu’s female flat track roller derby league and has high hopes of supporting the other islands and establishing roller derby solidly in the Pacific. The “skater operated, skater owned” league is currently working towards non-profit status and new members are always welcome! HPRD is also looking for referees, coaches, “jeerleaders” (derby cheerleaders), and other volunteers to help its growth in Hawaii. “Our ‘skater owned’ decision has made our new league stronger; everyone's voice is heard and taken seriously, thereby giving us a more solid foundation to work with.” -Dail Ader aka “Durty”, #101
One of the state’s three all female flat track roller derby leagues, HPRD provides an arena for women of all backgrounds to join together in the common cause for women’s empowerment through the spirit of sisterhood while supporting the athleticism and development of this rapidly-growing amateur sport.
