I am wanting to find the right animal for my son whom is 3 yrs old and a respectful thoughtful animal little person.

I would love to get our family a dog but at this time doesnt feel like the dog would get as much attention during the span my son is at school that I reckon one should have.
I was told a bunny is not ideal but my son really is interested in them and we have the right environment for a bunny.

Any advice would be great. Any pet ideas?
