to help reduce the city’s landfill demand and pay for other county
services.

A private corporation will produce as much as 85,000 gallons of
fuel a day from one landfill. Since that much fuel exceeds the
county’s police and service vehicle needs, how profits from the
excess fuel will be used is being discussed.

It takes three minutes for mobile refineries, at a cost of a dollar a
gallon, to convert landfill trash into that much fuel. At an added
dollar a gallon, that could produce over $30 million in annual
revenues for the city from one landfill.
