In searching for a home for 2 months I have seen a lot of ads with this wording:
Looking for quiet professionals, single person, couple, mature, no "Keiki", etc. I have been turned down multiple times because I have a child, this is usually before we even have the opportunity to to exchange other information about a potential match. Other families have shared the same stories with me. These include people who have HUD vouchers, as well as those who can afford quite expensive homes! Let's get out of the PC box; this is "age discrimination" which is simply put- refusing a home for a child/ children. In many native cultures children and women are put first. What is so messed up with this "culture" that children are refused homes simply because they are children? I was told my child can't move to a rental with be because the owners don't want to hear or see her. For those who worry about children damaging a home, that is what references of past landlords, move-in walk thru checklist, and deposits are for. Have a heart!

To landlords & property managers:
You were once a child who was raised most likely, by your mother. If you have forgotten what it is to be a child, I kindly encourage you to spend some time with/ observing a sweet child.
Where are this generation of children supposed to live when they are continually turned down in favor of wealthy newcomers to Kauai? Our island can do better than this.
I have a stellar rent history, credit, references and will respond to any comments/ questions. Mahalo.
