We would like to invite another elder woman to visit our home and share our professional caregiver with our delightful but frail and forgetful elderly mother. We are looking for a medically stable elder lady who has similar needs as our mom: help with bathing, meals, daily activities, supplements, companionship, etc., but not bedridden, wheelchair-bound, or requiring medical care.
Our lovely house is in a quiet, secluded setting, conveniently located near Waimea Park, close to the center of town. This is not a professional senior care facility. It is simply a comfortable home where we would welcome a compatible elder friend to visit with us during the day for assistance and socializing.
Some caregivers will just sit the elder person in front of the TV and ignore her all day. But not our excellent caregiver! She is a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) with many years' experience in elder care. Compassionate and cheerful, she is dedicated to providing stimulating, quality care, including wholesome nutrition, bathing and grooming, nail care, physical exercise, cooking and craft projects, mental stimulation, and interesting outings. She has become a valuable part of our family and could perhaps have the same important role in your life!
Our family is so pleased and relieved with the high quality of care that Mom receives. We have peace of mind while we're at work all day, knowing that she is safe and happy, with healthy food and interesting activities. Our mom is very happy with the care and companionship she receives in the comfort and familiarity of home. She looks forward to the caregiver's arrival and is always excited about the interesting things they do together every day drives in the country, easy walks, trips to the ocean, library day, visits to friends, getting a haircut, occasional restaurant lunch, daily exercise. There is also quiet time for solitude and naps. One of her favorite things is just sitting on the porch, playing with the cats, enjoying the flowers, and the breeze through the trees in our lovely garden!
One thing that would make Mom's life more meaningful would be to share her days with another woman who is in the same life stage, someone who understands first-hand the experience of aging and the need for appropriate care and attention. Perhaps your mom or auntie feels the same way, and would appreciate visiting with someone like herself, getting the best care possible for this special time, and still enjoying a fun and satisfying life!
