After the store opens you will be meeting the public in our mini-warehouse and showroom setting to explain to them the differences in our product lines and their paybacks. In our first few months you will work closely with the Owner to research exactly which Green product lines we should initially carry.  You will meet with an array of Vendors, Engineers and Contractors in the Green Energy and Building fields to determine what will best serve our customers in Hawaii.  You will be in charge of managing all store functions.   This includes employee hiring, scheduling, inventory and researching Green Energy products and their payback times. Qualifications:  <br>

A strong background in Architecture, Construction or Engineering practices and products.<br>

A knowledge of electrical systems, especially as it relates to PhotoVoltaics, rechargeable batteries, electrical vehicles, wind power, etc.<br>

Any knowledge in retail display, graphics, pricing, accounting, and practices is desired.<br>

Experience in maintaining a constantly evolving commerce based website is a plus.<br>

OVERVIEW<br>
We are seeking a Project Engineer to be responsible for effective financial performance, scheduling, coordination, project correspondence, and who is the point person for internal and external communications. This position will be based out of Honolulu, HI and will report to the Project Management Services Manager.<br>

RESPONSIBILITIES<br>
- Manage the client relationship and insure the Client’s expectations are met and that they parallel the obligations and responsibilities outlined in the ABB-Owner contract agreement.<br>
- Establish lines of communication and reporting protocols as appropriate for each project.  - Maintain constant contact with the Client and provide them with regular project updates.  <br>
- Develop the work plan for each project, and coordinate with the Principal-in-Charge of each project to establish the project team, budget, and schedule.<br>
- Manage budgets and maintain ABB’s profitability on all projects for which the PM is responsible.  <br>
- Understand the scope, budget and deliverables agreed to in each contract agreement and effectively communicate to the project team. <br>
- Oversee and monitor the project team; ABB, Owner, Contractors, Consultants, Manufacturers, Public Authorities, etc.  <br>
- During design development, communicate to ABB Design Consultants the project’s goals and restrictions including the intent of ABB’s scope, the needed construction documents, start and completion schedules, and budget constraints.<br>
- Plan and facilitate design development, pre-bid, construction, owner update, scheduling, and other coordination meetings.<br>
- Prepare, distribute, and maintain all correspondence including memos, meeting minutes, letters, checklists, client update reports, and other similar project reporting documents.<br>
- Prepare project progress reports, and at all times keep each project’s Principal-in-Charge and the ABB Operations Manager fully informed of what is transpiring with the clients and projects. <br>
- Manage ABB’s cash flow, including monthly review of client billings and accounts receivable.  <br>
- Pre-qualify contractors and when possible assist Design Consultants with the assembly and distribution of bid packages for contractor pricing.  Provide for bid coordination including assisting owners with bid opening, review, and presentation of bid summary documents.<br>
- Assist clients with contract negotiations and prepare AIA or DBIA format Owner-Contractor agreements for ABB’s clients when requested.<br>
- Track and distribute architects supplemental instructions (ASI), bulletins, field directives and similar documents prepared by ABB’s Design Consultants.<br>
- Negotiate and prepare Owner-Contractor change orders in a timely manner on the client’s behalf.<br>
- Verify that shop drawings, submittals, and requests for information (RFI’s) are checked by ABB’s construction administration or design staff.<br>
- Evaluate construction progress and anticipate project troubles or delays.  <br>
- Assist ABB Construction Administrators with punch lists and final inspections.  Using this information, prepare certificates of substantial completion for each project when necessary.  <br>
<br>
QUALIFICATIONS<br>
- Must hold bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a similarly related field from an accredited university, or have demonstrated competence to function in this position.<br>
- Requires a minimum of 3-5 years experience working for a Contractor in Hawaii.<br>
- Experience working on renovation or rehabilitation projects is a must.<br>
- Must posses the ability to prepare written documentation such as letters and reports on a professional level.<br>
- Project Engineers must be able to manage people and posses the communication skills to manage the project team and its participants.<br>
- Project Engineers must be able to prioritize and delegate tasks, and must posses the ability to multi-task.<br>
- A detail oriented approach is an essential attribute of an effective Project Engineer.<br>
- Appropriate computer skills including advanced knowledge of MS Office, Deltek Vision, etc. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is helpful.<br>

<description><![CDATA[DESCRIPTION:<br>
Provides technical and administrative assistance to the Power Supply Department regarding various operations and maintenance (O&M) issues, capital projects, renewable energy projects, contracts and related engineering functions. <br>

<br>
RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>
• Manages Power Supply Department capital projects, O&M and renewable energy projects including but not limited to the following:<br>
      a)  Initiating and receiving ideas for capital and O&M projects.<br>
      b)  Determining and documenting the project’s scope and justification.<br>
      c)  Scheduling and budgeting.<br>
      d)  Performing design work and/or project evaluation.<br>
      e)  Obtaining required permits and authorization.<br>
      f)  Monitoring construction progress and timing.<br>
      g)  Establishing and maintaining project controls.<br>
      h)  Tracking project expenditures.<br>
      i)  Coordinating training programs.<br>
      j)  Preparing and executing contracts.<br>
      k)  Reviewing and processing of invoices.<br>
      l)  Processing requisitions and contract services.<br>
<br>
• Provides technical engineering assistance to the Power Supply Department’s power plants regarding various O&M issues, capital projects, environmental regulations, and other related engineering functions, including plant safety.    <br>
<br>
• Works with outside consultants, contractors and various HECO support services including their selection, monitoring their work and coordinating work between them and the power plants.  Includes permitting and compliance aspects of environmental issues including air, water, and hazardous waste materials.    <br>
<br>
• Performs and coordinates the efforts for regular efficiency tests on generating units.  Recommends and implements improvements to all of the power plants in general and to increase efficiency, reliability, and capability of generating units and their components and all other equipment and systems operated by the Power Supply department.<br>
 <br>
• Develops O&M budgets, forecasts, & updates for Power Supply.  Prepares financial documentation and technical justification for rate cases.<br>

<br>
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:<br>
• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or chemical engineering with emphasis on power generation or equivalent education and/or background experience.<br>
<br>
• Knowledge of vendor project management services and abilities.<br>
<br>
• Knowledge of applicable County, State, Federal, industry and company practices, codes and practices related to building, electrical codes, and environmental regulations.<br>
<br>
• Hawaii Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable to provide technical assistance and expert testimony as needed.<br>
<br>
<br>
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:<br>
• Skills in testing procedures and related troubleshooting techniques.<br>
<br>
• In-depth communication skills, both oral and in writing, to effectively respond to requests from various supervisory personnel and outside agencies.<br>
<br>
• Demonstrates ability to plan, coordinate and supervise projects relating to project management skills.<br>
<br>
• Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.<br>
<br>
• Computer literacy in spreadsheet development, word processing, presentation and database applications.<br>
<br>
• In-depth analytical, organizational, planning and conceptual skills to handle multiple projects and priorities concurrently.<br>

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<br>
• Minimum of five years of field experience in providing technical engineering assistance to power plant machinery.  Familiarity with pumps, heat exchangers, turbines, motors, fans, etc.<br>
<br>
• Requires high degree of technical training equal to a minimum of (13) years of job experience.  A Bachelors Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or chemical engineering with emphasis on power generation from an accredited engineering school may be substituted for (8) years of work experience.<br>

<description><![CDATA[<p>Makai’s design group is looking for a talented and fast-learning ocean engineer, preferably with some outside work experience to take a design engineering role in our design group. Major project responsibilities within this group include design of floating Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plant and design of Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC) systems in selected locations around the world. Within the group, OTEC Design responsibilities include design of heat exchangers, large diameter pipe concepts, plant configuration design and overall system analysis. SWAC design responsibilities include overall project development, pipeline and environmental loading design analysis, detailed mechanical design tasks and construction management duties. Specific work tasks may include design of deep water pipelines from concept to a detailed design level, hydrodynamic modeling of submerged pipelines, structural analysis and design, assist in deep ocean bathymetric and oceanographic surveys, writing proposal and reports, and a variety of other ocean engineering project responsibilities. Ability to think and write clearly and be suited to demanding engineering analysis are important assets for this position. A strong working knowledge of MS Office Software and other common engineering analytical software such as Matlab, Rhino, and FEA tools is required, and expertise in Autocad and Orcaflex are desirable skills. An ideal candidate would have an MS in Ocean Engineering. Alternatively, an MS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with strong relevant work experience in ocean industry or an academic oceanic research setting may be acceptable. Talented Candidates with a BS in Ocean Engineering with strong analytical skills and work experience in ocean industry will also be considered. OVERVIEW<br>
 We are seeking a Design Consultant responsible for utilizing technical knowledge, intellectual ability, and practical experience to produce evaluation reports, building condition assessments, and construction documents.  This position will be based out of Honolulu, HI and will report to the Design Services Manager.<br>

RESPONSIBILITIES<br>

OVERVIEW<br>
We are seeking a Project Manager to be responsible for effective financial performance, scheduling, coordination, project correspondence, and who is the point person for internal and external communications. This position will be based out of Honolulu, HI and will report to the Project Management Services Manager.<br>

RESPONSIBILITIES<br>
- Manage the client relationship and insure the Client’s expectations are met and that they parallel the obligations and responsibilities outlined in the ABB-Owner contract agreement.<br>
- Establish lines of communication and reporting protocols as appropriate for each project.  <br>
- Maintain constant contact with the Client and provide them with regular project updates.  <br>
- Develop the work plan for each project, and coordinate with the Principal-in-Charge of each project to establish the project team, budget, and schedule.<br>
- Manage budgets and maintain ABB’s profitability on all projects for which the PM is responsible.  <br>
- Understand the scope, budget and deliverables agreed to in each contract agreement and effectively communicate to the project team. <br>
- Oversee and monitor the project team; ABB, Owner, Contractors, Consultants, Manufacturers, Public Authorities, etc.  <br>
- During design development, communicate to ABB Design Consultants the project’s goals and restrictions including the intent of ABB’s scope, the needed construction documents, start and completion schedules, and budget constraints.<br>
- Plan and facilitate design development, pre-bid, construction, owner update, scheduling, and other coordination meetings.<br>
- Prepare, distribute, and maintain all correspondence including memos, meeting minutes, letters, checklists, client update reports, and other similar project reporting documents.<br>
- Prepare project progress reports, and at all times keep each project’s Principal-in-Charge and the ABB Operations Manager fully informed of what is transpiring with the clients and projects. <br>
- Manage ABB’s cash flow, including monthly review of client billings and accounts receivable.  <br>
- Pre-qualify contractors and when possible assist Design Consultants with the assembly and distribution of bid packages for contractor pricing.  Provide for bid coordination including assisting owners with bid opening, review, and presentation of bid summary documents.<br>
- Assist clients with contract negotiations and prepare AIA or DBIA format Owner-Contractor agreements for ABB’s clients when requested.<br>
- Track and distribute architects supplemental instructions (ASI), bulletins, field directives and similar documents prepared by ABB’s Design Consultants.<br>
- Negotiate and prepare Owner-Contractor change orders in a timely manner on the client’s behalf.<br>
- Verify that shop drawings, submittals, and requests for information (RFI’s) are checked by ABB’s construction administration or design staff.<br>
- Evaluate construction progress and anticipate project troubles or delays.  <br>
- Assist ABB Construction Administrators with punch lists and final inspections.  Using this information, prepare certificates of substantial completion for each project when necessary.  <br>
<br>
QUALIFICATIONS<br>
- Typically must hold bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a similarly related field from an accredited university, or have demonstrated competence to function in this position.<br>
- Typically requires minimum of 5 years industry experience.<br>

•	Coordinate site inspections with building occupants, sub-consultants, contractors, and other related professionals.<br>
•	Assess and document (comprehensive field notes and photographs) of observed conditions.<br>

•	Assist with development of a Scope of Repair.<br>

<title><![CDATA[Civil Project Engineer (Honolulu)]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Currently seeking to add a mid-senior level Civil Project Engineer with design background to work on and manage projects dealing with (but not limited to) aspects of infrastructure design such as hydraulics, grading, drainage, wastewater, roadway improvements, subdivision layout and traffic engineering. <br>

Required Skills: <br>
BS/MS Civil Engineering <br>
<br>
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of (8) years of experience in Civil engineering. <br>
<br>
Preference will be given towards Licensed Civil Engineers, PE's, that are familiar with State of Hawaii and County standards for design. <br>
<br>
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD/ Land Desktop/Civil 3D and other civil engineering related software such as HECRAS. <br>
