Both levels are wonderful--great comfort and Ohh the view! Plus, the location is stellar--close to 2 great beaches and in a quiet area. The owner is an awesome host, and our experience here greatly exceeded last year's stay in a Magic Sands condo. The kids loved the total access to their "own" private swimming pool, and mom loved the plumerias and landscaping. We are now back to our land-locked Midwestern lives, but we are secretly scheming on the quickest way to return for another slice of paradise! Thanks!

Old fashioned Hawaiian Country living, on the Old Volcano Trail. Easy 20 minute drive to Hilo, Volcano or Pahoa, on paved road, near hwy 11.

Ideally, centrally located for seeing all the sites on the green side of the Big Isle, or for house & property hunting, on the rainy, east side of Hawaii, the only place property is still affordable in Hawaii.

We offer 2 separate, 1st story, guest rooms, each with a bedroom & front living/sitting room, a private bathroom, with shower; and coffee maker. Each room has 2 separate entries.

We have our own separate living area, upstairs; but, we are usually outside, during the day, or out back in the shade house or potting shed. Like regular old farmers, we wake up before the sun, and are in bed as soon as it goes down; so the whole downstairs is yours to cook dinner, or just hang-out.

Common carport has table & chairs, washer & dryer. The kitchen, with sink, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and BBQ, and another table with chairs, to hang out at, in the shade, are at the back of the carport.

Coffee (in the room), Electricity, Cable TV, high speed wireless internet are included.

We are on 3 acres of Hawaiian farmland. Enjoy the flower & fruit garden, play horsehoes, or talk about Harleys; when your not off to the tide pool, with our loaner snorkel gear & body boards.

It is an easy drive up to, and around, the Volcano. The Black Sands Beach is further to the south, for a relaxing rest spot & picnic.

Hilo is a quick drive, to see museums, waterfalls, flea market, and shopping, then up the beautiful Hamakua coast, to see more waterfalls, gardens, and awesome scenic views; or head up to Mauna Kea, see the stars, where it is winter in Hawaii, all the time.

Turn the other way down the road, and, if it is Sunday, the Maku'u farmers market is the place to browse, then 10 minutes to the old fashioned hippie town of Pahoa; drive the scenic Kalapana-Kapoho loop, see the lava flow, hot ponds, tide pools, see if the dolphins are in at Kehena Beach, or, on Sunday drummers hit the beach. Take a picnic lunch, and pick a private spot, by the ocean, under big, shady trees.

It is a two hour drive to just about anywhere on the island. We will direct you to what you want too see, and do, or describe the various, diverse areas of the island, for site-seeing, or property searches.

I just wanted to say thanks! We had a lot of fun on the Big Island and the condo was very nice. We enjoyed being so close to the beach, and even though it's pretty touristy, it was really nice to be able to walk to lots of restaurants & shops (and the Atlantis sub - awesome kamaaina discount!). we thought the room and the lanai were clean & comfortable, and it was a good deal. We also got to drive up the Kohala coast, hike in Pololu, and snorkel in S. Kona and really enjoyed ourselves. We made good use of several of your restaurant recommendations, so thanks so much for that! It's such a shame that there are hardly any restaurants on Oahu that you can even see the ocean, much less be right on it - so that was really fun for us in Kona. Dear Rita,This is just to let you know that we had a great time on the Big Island, thanks in large part to our stay in your unit at Kona Islander Inn.We found everything as promised: clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and homey. The mattress was firm, everything worked, and it was altogether luxurious to hang out on the lanai at the beginning and end of the day. We liked the way the unit is situated, facing the inner courtyard and the pool. We heard no traffic noise at all. We slept with the sliding door open every night. The staff was friendly and helpful. "We planned to go to the Kona Brewers Fest and wanted a reasonably priced place within walking distance. After hearing the terrible reviews about the Kona Seaside and the King Kam, we did some research and found this property.We booked online directly with the owner, Rita who has 5 units at this location. The studio unit 334 was very clean, bright and cheery. We had a nice view of the pool, not oceanfront, but still OK. A small kitchenette with microwave, fridge coffee maker , dishes and silverware was provided. Very quiet at night even though there were two busy streets on both sides of the complex. This is a residential complex as well as vacation condos and everyone seems to be respectful of each other.Parking is a challenge here but there was always street parking available if we couldn't find a spot in the lot. Almost everything is within walking distance anyway and we rarely took the car out. Have heard that some of the units here are not so nice, but we were fortunate to find this one.Some of our brewing friends were staying at the King Kam paying $109/night and said it was absolutely disgusting. They were all asking for discounts on their rooms. We will definitely return to the Kona Islander Inn again. We just returned from a wonderful week in Kona (returned on October 24th, 2008) and stayed in Room 329.According to other reviews this is a hit and miss lodging, depending on the unit, because each unit is owned by individuals that may or may not keep their units clean and updated.All I can say is we were very happy with room 329 with an ocean-view the total cost INCLUDING taxes came to $662.00 for 7 nights, and it's easy to visit all the great restaurants and great sunset watering holes in town quite easily by foot.For the value, you can't beat it... There is no maid service (which is no big deal), but just be aware of that fact, keep the bed neat and the towels on the rack for the next day.Conclusion, we were happy with Room 329! The noise from the street was not as bad as some have described, as a matter of fact the sound of the ocean waves is the predominant (and peaceful) sound we heard.

My husband and I stayed in the pool view in room #327 and it was very clean and well kept. Its so nice to just walk out the front door in any direction and have it all at your finger tips. Its pretty small but who needs a lot of room. It fits a couple just fine.

The Kona Islander Inn is a simple yet delightful hotel/apartment complex in Kailua-Kona. My wife and I have stayed there for several weeks while on vacation in Hawaii. The condos themselves are small and simple, but all are clean and have all the facilities we wanted. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We rented our room from Rita Roberts over the internet and she set up the whole reservation for us in just a few minutes. She is also a wealthy of information about the Island, even helped us with our rental car and interisland flight info! Our stay in unit 319 was perfect! Quiet and tropical views of the ocean as well as the pool area from the private lanai. Very clean, and well equiped for our entire two week stay. We cooked most our meals and took advantage of the farmers market next door. We enjoyed the location being just a few minutes walk from the center of Kona and close to shops, a great ocean-side bar and the Wyland gallery of marine art. It is "our" vacation condo without all the problems of owning one! We look forward to going again.

The going rate for this week is over $3500! And we had to book the week seriously almost a year in advance. The place sleeps 8 people, 2 bedrooms 2 baths: 1 king in 1 room, 2 queens in the other, 2 pull out queen sofas as well!A pic of the waterfall pool.

Spend X-mas in Kona, Hawaii steps from the beach and the ocean. Visit the lush, tropical and magic of the real Hawaii. The property offers a 180-degree ocean view north towards Hilo and the top of Mauna Kea while sitting by the solar heated in-ground pool. We do not have a beach directly in front of our home but we are close to a geothermal hot pond, great snorkeling at the Kapoho Tide Pools and some black sand beaches.
We are in a very quiet and safe neighborhood and offer a prime location to whale watch (December to April). At night you can hear the whales singing. Year round turtles, dolphins, and other marine life, plus cruise ships, passing by keep the view always interesting. Coffee on the lanai as you see the sun rise over the ocean is magical as the light dances on the ocean waves! Rainbows over the water and the evening colors are what we love so much and never tire of.
This home is a very large (3,000 square foot) home directly on the ocean with three private lanais, full kitchen, kitchenette (downstairs), private in-ground pool, high speed Internet throughout the house with a computer provided also. There is every amenity imaginable and more.

We can be available to offer travel information on the volcano, hot ponds, black sand beaches, snorkeling, waterfalls, steam vents, and many other great things to do. We are convenient to Hilo airport and can send you maps via e-mail. There is shopping and restaurants in nearby Pahoa, Keaau, and Hilo.

The upstairs is a magical little cubicle that is actually perched in the tree. It sparkles with jewels, mirrors and stained glass. It is a great place to read, meditate or star gaze. The Avocado TreeHouse features an ocean view, is solar powered, has hand-painted floors and now with our newly constructed flush toilet, shower & a full kitchen.

A breakfast of fresh fruit, organic coffee and tea, and whole grain bread with raw organic macnut honey is provided each morning.

The Avocado TreeHouse is yours for only 85 bucks a night or a mere 500 dollars per week for up to three guests. There is a ten dollars per night fee for each additional person over the original three guests. Hawaii room tax is 11.75%.

Located in a remote lush tropical area on the southeast point of the big Island of Hawaii. Home of the Kapoho tidepools. All I can say is, "you just gotta come check these volcanic tidepools out, if you're visiting the Big Island".
Now our home is 500 feet from the ocean, and only a four minute walk to the Kapoho tidepools. Our small community is called Vacationland. But, make no mistake. Here in Vacationland we have no hotels, no motels, no large tourist crowds, and no traffic or traffic lights for that matter.
Now the house should speak for itself. Built by my son and I, we offer this incredible Hawaiian home to our future guests with absolutely no ifs' ands' or buts' that when you arrive at our home, you'll be blown away, not only by it's size, it's beauty, but by it's surrounding area.
We have three bedrooms, two baths, tile floors, vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans in all rooms, jacuzzi bathtub in master bath.
Outside covered wrap around decks that all lead to our ocean view lanai and star view terrace.
We have a two car beautiful enclosed garage, nice lawns, giant cathedral ceiling over living room area, open kitchen with all appliances, laundry room with new washer and dryer, free phone calling to mainland, cable, dvd, surround sound.

This is a great home and you'll love it. Beautiful tropical styled vacation home just 3 miles from the airport. Located on the gentle and breezy slopes of Mt. Hualalai at the perfect elevation of about 800 feet. Gorgeous Pacific shoreline and sunset views! Minutes to town, but away from the traffic, crowds, bugs, and heat of downtown at sea level! Our guests rave about this being the perfect location! We have had many say that they felt calmed and relaxed as soon as they entered,
"the home has a great feel to it".

Vaulted ceilings and plenty of comfortable seating in the tropical Great Room.

The huge west facing covered lanai features the large Hot Tub, an additional seating and dining area, and a small Tiki bar as well. The lanai faces the large pool/sun deck with a 35 X 18ft pool, plenty of sun furniture and BBQ area.

Just had a cancellation for 8-19 December..Will offer a special price for these dates. Notice our active calendar at the end of this listing. Rates start at $125 for two people staying 7 or more nights (and using the master bedroom only) and go up from there.

Visit the lush, tropical and magic of the real Hawaii. The property offers a 180-degree ocean view north towards Hilo and the top of Mauna Kea while sitting by the solar heated in-ground pool. We do not have a beach directly in front of our home but we are close to a geothermal hot pond, great snorkeling at the Kapoho Tide Pools and some black sand beaches.
We are in a very quiet and safe neighborhood and offer a prime location to whale watch (December to April). At night you can hear the whales singing. Year round turtles, dolphins, and other marine life, plus cruise ships, passing by keep the view always interesting. Coffee on the lanai as you see the sun rise over the ocean is magical as the light dances on the ocean waves! Rainbows over the water and the evening colors are what we love so much and never tire of.
This home is a very large (3,000 square foot) home directly on the ocean with three private lanais, full kitchen, kitchenette (downstairs), private in-ground pool, high speed Internet throughout the house with a computer provided also. There is every amenity imaginable and more.

We can be available to offer travel information on the volcano, hot ponds, black sand beaches, snorkeling, waterfalls, steam vents, and many other great things to do. We are convenient to Hilo airport and can send you maps via e-mail. There is shopping and restaurants in nearby Pahoa, Keaau, and Hilo.
With our 30 foot cliffs overlooking the ocean and the corresponding danger and pool right off the lanai- we do not recommend this rental for people with young children.

I Love Hawaii, but I know everyone needs a change now and then. Since I've had several guests from the Islands stay at my home I decided to try a direct ad. Nothing compares to the "Tahoe Castle". So you don't miss the warm waters the Castle has a private indoor pool complete with waterfall and fireplace, stereo and special lighting. Also has a sauna room and a steam room. Much more like a pool table, fooz ball game, gourmet kitchen and beautiful log great room. Of course it has a private hot tub under the stars as well. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac with empty wooded lots on either side and just about 5 miles to the Lake, Casinos, or Heavenly Ski Resort. Nearest Airport is in Reno NV, about a one hour drive to the home. One thing: always rent a four wheel drive anytime near Winter season.
For the remainder of November I am offering a special price of $350 per night with minimum 3 night stay, plus usual fees which are always $250 cleaning and 10% local tax. I do also charge a $500 security deposit but that is completely refundable.
Winter stays book fast and far ahead, as you may already see from my reservation calendar. Rates are $450 per night plus usual fees, and require a 5 night stay UNLESS you see less dates left between paid reservations...and there are several right now. You must however take all those remaining dates. Winter will book at 100%. Reserve 90 days ahead with only a $500 deposit to hold dates.

Let me introduce you to Kapoho. Kapoho is located on the very south east point of the Big Island of Hawaii.
Tropical breezes, warm sun, the kapoho tidepools. Where you and the family can spend hours and hours of time swimming and snorkeling in safe warm Hawaiin tropical waters. These tidepools are protected by a volcanic shelf, so no worries about the pounding surf. Just calm warm waters, tropical fish and Marine corals, and even the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles make their home in the Kapoho tidepools.
We�re even minutes drive from the Ahalunai Warm ponds, champaign ponds of Beachlots community, kalapana black sands beach, kehena black sand beach, and the Kalani health spa for incredible Hawaiian message.
Our home is awesome. 2300 sq ft. of beautiful hand crafted workmanship. Built by my son and I and completed last year we offer the following:
Vaulted large open beam construction, tongue and groove white pine ceillings with ceiling fans in all rooms.
Tile floors, three bedrooms two bathrooms, and the master bath even has a large jacuzzi bathtub.
We have an awesome outside wrap around deck, covered by our custom hip style tin roof, that leads to our ocean view lanai and star view terrace.
Our home is completely furnished, Hawaiian style. Even a cozy hammock on our lanai.
We have cable tv, surround sound in our giant cupala over the living room. As seen in pic below. There�s a weber bbq on our star view terrace. We have a complete laundry room with new washer and dryer, and laundry sink.\
Custom staircase leads to our home that sits 14 feet high above ground level to catch the ocean tradewinds.
We even have a beautiful two car custom garage with automatic garage door opener, nicely landscaped yards, no neighbors behind us, or on the sides of us, Yet.
Our small ocean community called Kapoho kai, or as locals know it as Vacationland, is lush tropical, semi private, and probably one of the most beautiful areas of the Big island with easy ocean access.
Now, Kapoho is not well known, primarily because here in Kapoho we have no hotels, motels, large tourist crowds, or Vog from the Kilahuea Volcano.
My terms are quite easy, and we make our home sooo affordable.
135dollars per night with a three night minimum stay.
85 dollars cleaning fee.
That�s it. I do ask, when you make your decision to come to our home, that you send me a small deposit, which I do credit towards your vacation rental.
You can pay ahead of time, or you can pay upon arrival to the house, to our property manager Winston Churchill. Seriously. Winston is a licensed real estate agent with the state of hawaii, so no worries about this ad.
Winston will greet you at the house, you can pay him any balance, he�ll give you the keys, show you around and that is it.
We even have Madonna, our housekeeper, who, if requested will be happy to cook your arriving meal at the house for you. I�m told by all our guests, who�ve used Madonnas� service, that this is an excellent service. Special Fall Rate and no added cleaning fee at Hale Lana ("Floating House"), with views of the ocean and mountain, is located at Kealakekua Bay....a very peaceful and quiet small low-key shoreline community. It is only steps (a one minute walk) to enter the crystal clear water at a palm shaded beach, across the bay from the Captain Cook Monument, for the best snorkeling in the islands! The pristine bay is a protected marine preserve and underwater park providing numerous under and above water activities, dolphin sightings (sometimes around your kayak) and whales in winter. The house is ideal for couples.
< Hale Lana is removed from noise and traffic and is fully fenced and gated for added privacy. The home is a new superbly crafted tropical and luxurious pole and beam design showcasing natural woods, Italian tile, granite countertops, stainless appliances, new tropical furnishings, 10 jet spa tub and large indoor and outdoor showers. The high open-beam ceilings, the roof cupola, decking and louvred transoms are reminiscent of a boat. This also efficiently allows the balmy breezes and scents of the bay and surrounding plumeria trees to float through. There are ample lanais and patios to relax in sun or shade while taking in the sights, sounds and views of the ocean and surrounding mountain. It is easy to let yourself "hang loose" at Hale Lana. Units can be rented separately. The first floor studio has a fully equipped kitchenette, private patios, one queen bed and views of the gardens and surrounding mountain and is $100. to $125. per night. The upstairs one bedroom unit has surround sound/TV/DVD/stereo, fully equipped gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, wrap around lanai, Jacuzzi ten jet spa tub, plush queen bed and views of the ocean, gardens and majestic cloud covered mountain and rents for $140. to $175.per night. Rates are seasonal and subject to change. Hale Lana can also be rented as a whole house (accomodating a maximum of four) for $240. to $275. per night. Rentals include wireless internet access, cable TV, phone, ceiling fans, outdoor covered tile shower, all beach equipment (towels, coolers, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards), washer and dryer (dryer is coin), clothesline, charcoal grill, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, all linens and off street/covered private parking.
